In Australia, all electrical installations need to be carried out by certified and insured electricians. There are many kinds of A/C installations; some may seem relatively simple, but there are many things that can go wrong, and it is never worth risking your safety to save a few dollars. Additionally, you should always check the licensing and insurance of any contractor you hire to install your air conditioning for your safety and peace of mind.
A build-up of dirt and debris can make your A/C work harder to cool your home or business, which means it’s not running efficiently and can prematurely wear out or break down. That’s why it’s important to have our professionals inspect your air conditioner at least annually to look for any blockages and thoroughly clean the entire system. The best time to have this inspection is usually before summer, when you come into the peak usage period.
Outside of this, you need to always keep your filters clean. If the filter light on your air-conditioner flashes, it’s detecting excess dirt and dust. If you don’t clean these filters, it can lead to build-ups of mould and mildew that can be harmful. For commercial systems, the filters should be thoroughly cleaned once a month.
When you properly clean your air conditioner and have it regularly inspected and maintained, you can expect up to 15 years of quality use. If your system is not properly maintained, it may fail prematurely.
Is your air conditioner over ten years old? You should have it inspected at the first sign of any faults. Our technicians will advise if a replacement is a more economical solution. If you find that your air conditioner is routinely breaking down, it might make more sense to replace it than to keep forking out money for repairs. Another sign that a replacement is a better option is when your power bills spike up sharply because of your A/C use. If your bills are rising even though your A/C usage is the same, it is no longer efficient and probably should be replaced.
This refers to the type of power delivered to your property. Most residential homes are supplied with single-phase electricity, while commercial and industrial complexes and buildings generally use three-phase power. However, there are exceptions.
For example, a house with lots of appliances or items that draw large volumes of electricity may use three-phase power. A smaller commercial business may only require single-phase power. Our technicians will assess your property and advise you on the type of A/C you require.
Several factors will dictate which split system is ideal for your property, and the most significant of those is the floor space you’re looking to cool. For smaller spaces up to 15m2, a basic 2.5kW system should be more than enough to keep you comfortable. These are usually used in single bedrooms or small apartments.
For medium rooms (like a bedroom that includes an ensuite or smaller living space) up to 30m2, you may need to step up to a 3.5kW system. If you want to cool a larger bedroom or living space up to 45m2, then a 5-6kW system will do the job. There are also larger 7-8kW systems for open plan homes and other areas with a big floorplan.
Other factors to consider when choosing an air conditioner include:
We will do a thorough assessment of your property and advise the right option for you.
